Power Shifts from NY to DC

The job market in DC is surely looking very attractive to many right now as it perhaps seems a "safer" bet than those in Wall Street. I imagine, however, that finance will eventually trump politics once all the smoke clears. But I wonder if the true power remains in the tech sector (Silicon Valley) where the "real" thinkers are at work...
