US's Six Main Taxes

"America's six main taxes in 2008: income taxes raised $1.15 trillion; payroll taxes $900 billion; corporate income tax $304 billion; excise taxes on gasoline, liquor and cigarettes $67 billion; estate and gift taxes $29 billion; tariffs $26 billion. Smallest and oldest of the main taxes, the tariff system is also the most regressive, as most tariff money comes from taxes on clothes, shoes, household goods and a few types of food."
